Hi, I am Nkechi-Vivien...
British Born (Igbo and Yoruba) Nigerian based in London. I am an ambitious mother of 4 boys. I love to sleep but don’t get enough of it and my dream holiday would be a tour around the African continent.
I have been able to navigate between academia and corporate positions over the last 18 years through architectural design and construction development. I am currently pursuing a PhD at Anglia Ruskin University and am the founder of The Gneiss Way, originally I set this up as a construction design management consultancy but the changes to the industry mean I need to be more creative in how I do business.
Part of the changes requires me to create a working environment that works around family life, 81% of women take an extended career break after having children because of the demand in pursuing a career in a male-dominated industry. To be frank we have a long way to go to be fully inclusive and open to different types of working patterns. Companies are starting to address this issue due to the shortage of workforce with having over 2.2 million jobs to fill in the UK.
